It's been a minute, but I'm back on the case
High stakes songs are nothing new for me, but I haven’t done an installment on this vital topic in almost a year, so here I am.
While I like to rob you of your precious time during rush hour, on here I’m more respectful. So, let’s get right to it, shall we?
Radioactive, Imagine Dragons: Although it seems allegorical, using a base concept that has a half-life and is associated with some of the worst outcomes imaginable is a muscular, stakes-raising flex. While the tempo of this tune is slow and measured, the vibes are urgent and raw. The fact that Imagine Dragons sucking major booty (and having a goofy ass video for the song) isn’t precluding them appearing on this hallowed list is something in and of itself. Highest Stakes Line: “I’m breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus. This is it, the apocalypse.”
