Revisiting "Office Space" Filming Locations 25 Years Later, Part II
I visited several magical Austin "Office Space" locales and it was a trip, y'all.
Earlier this week I kicked off this Office Space retrospective party with Part I, and now I’m back with Part II to round things out with several more before and after shooting locations. So get your red Swinglines ready, because here we go!
Opening Credits Rush Hour: This was such a perfect tone-setter for the rest of the flick. Although there have been many changes to this corridor over the last quarter century, these shots all took place on a roughly half mile stretch of Braker Lane between Domain Drive and Burnet Road. Yes, I’m ignoring the Dallas shot.
Peter’s Apartment: These could have been filmed any number of cookie-cutter places, but two perfect locales were selected. The doors are at a complex on Morado Circle in NW Austin, while the street entrance view is 11511 Metric Boulevard. The vibes for both remain very similar, even if the names have changed, most notably the hilarious “Morningwood Apartments.”
The Fax Machine Destruction Scene: While there remains uncertainty for the flick’s ultimate office catharsis moment as far as where it was shot, the likely location was an open field where The Domain now stands. There is no clear authority on the exact spot, unfortunately, beyond knowing that it was way cooler in 1999 and that many would like to do the same thing now to The Domain.
Peter’s Hypnotherapy Session: Tucked quietly into a West MLK (1010, to be exact) location just east of N. Lamar is a funky little professional office building. There have been some cosmetic changes since the late 90s—including a huge landscaping upgrade—but the Office Space vibe here in 2024 remains impeccable.

Tom’s Cookout: The sheer drudgery and awkwardness of a work party were perfectly captured in these scenes filmed at and across from 1603 Glen Rose Chase in Pflugerville. In a burst of movie weirdness, the house where the soiree takes place is shown as being across the street when Samir and Michael Bolton arrive. Not sure why. But the backyard shots are definitely 1603 as we have a water tower to orient us.
Hope y’all enjoyed this series! It was labor intensive but still fun to compile.
thanks for this. i was at working at ACC Northridge during the filming. i remember closed roads and the vehicle wreckage being towed past campus etc. i’m now at the Rio Grande campus. good times.
