While having our local races dropped into a larger, existential battle like Harris vs Trump will allow significantly less overall focus on them, it also means that a potentially record number of Austin voters will be pulling levers in our upcoming Mayoral and City Council races.
So, in an effort to expose Austin voters to even more of the candidates and issues that will impact them in the months and years to come, I’m currently sending out my candidate questions, which I’ll soon publish here (and elsewhere), verbatim, after I get the answers back.
Some of y’all might be waiting for the joke. But I’m here to tell you there is none. While a few of the questions will trend toward the lighthearted, I’m hitting real policy shit, and I’m very excited to see how these folks respond.
I’ll be starting with Mayor, and I’m hoping to hear from all five candidates: Kirk Watson, Doug Greco, Carmen Llanes Pulido, Jeffery Bowen, and Kathie Tovo. My fairly robust 12-question Mayoral survey hits a lot of issues that Austin voters are interested in, and it should offer a solid compare/contrast between the candidates.
I’ll then turn to Austin City Council races.
No, I won’t be making endorsements for any Austin races.
Stay tuned, fellow voters!
Yours in Democracy,
Evil MoPac

Looking forward to it!
